Kim’s view:
The Let’s Get Ready series is one of the best I have come across in a while. One of the best features of these books is that I feel I can work with all 3 of my kids even though there is a 4 year age gap between the youngest and oldest. For those that struggle to find a balance when working with different age levels, these are great books to aid with that. I love that the books are coated and you can write and erase in them. They touch on important objectives and give you a good foundation if your not sure where to start with your children. As a first year homeschooling mom, I also saw some things in this book that I had not thought about working on with my 1st grader. I look forward to incorporating the information in these books into our daily learning routines.
Christy’s view:
Lil’ Roo loves the “Let’s Get Ready” books. When they first arrived, he was so into checking them out that he wouldn’t let me look at them until I got him distracted, LOL! He’s 3, so we are starting on this preschool journey. We haven’t decided yet which direction we’ll go as far as school is concerned (public, private, homeschool), but for now we are working with him at home.
The “Let’s Get Ready For Kindergarten” is a very simple, thin book that is surprisingly PACKED with all the essentials the little guy need to learn as he moves toward Kindergarten. There’s a list of Early Childhood Skills to give you an overview, as well as parent / caregiver tips. There’s ABCs, 123s, counting, money, right/left & names of fingers, colors, shapes, words, and so much more. Each page is write on – wipe off marker friendly. I’m very excited to start working on these skills with Lil’ Roo. Ages 2-6.
The second book in the series is “Let’s Get Ready For First Grade”. We haven’t explored it as thoroughly since we aren’t at that point yet, but I was very impressed with the material covered as I skimmed through it (compound words, plural words, geometric shapes, measuring, solar system, graphs, primary & secondary colors, branches of government, food groups, adding & subtracting, and more). Ages 5-8.
