The vintage flash cards aren’t your average flashcards. Gone are the small, flimsy hand size flashcards. These are big, bold, and something your child will enjoy holding in both of their hands. As a mom, I like the size of the flash cards, the size of the letters, and the pictures on the back. The size allows for my children to hold the flashcards without fear of the ripping or crumbling them in their hands. The size of the letters makes it easy for children to trace their fingers over the letters. By tracing the letters a child can learn to recognize the curves and the overall shape of each letter. The pictures on the back of the card provide a source of reinforcment of the letter being learned. Any learning tool in our house that has more then one learning feature is something I tend to hold on to for all 3 of my kids.

I’m really liking the vintage Learning My Letters ABC flash cards from TJ Whitney. They are larger and much thicker than the average flash cards and in bright, bold colors. The vintageness adds a certain appeal that truly sets it apart. They are made like a product of old, and the illustrations recall England’s 1950’s. My nephew lived in England recently for two years and is expecting his first child. With his love of all things English, these may find themselves passed down to a new generation once Lil Roo gets his ABCs mastered. Although it would take away from the “vintage” feel, I think laminating them would increase their durability. C’mon, have you seen my kid? Haha. That not-with-standing, I see lots of learning fun with these cards in our future!
