Cute & Fun Igloo Craft!

The idea for doing the Igloo craft came from here, but I improvised and decided to use a plastic bowl and plate instead of styrofoam to (1) not have to go out and buy those items since we didn’t have them on hand, and (2) nothing to throw away afterwards.  Here’s the materials needed & instructions the way we did it:

MATERIALS:

Very small plastic bowl
Plastic plate (preferably white) large enough for the bowl, a row of mini-marshmallows, & the igloo door
White icing / frosting
Mini-marshmallows
Small spatula or knife to spread icing/frosting

DIRECTIONS:

If the plate is not white, you may want to cover the top of the plate in white frosting.  If it is, cover enough to give the rim of the bowl something to “stick” to as well as the bottom row of mini-marshmallows.

Coat the outside of the bowl in white frosting and place upside down on the plate.

Place a row of mini-marshmallows around rim of bowl.  Continue with a row above until entire bowl is covered.

Use mini-marshmallows to create the igloo’s door.  Use frosting to help them stick.

Voila!  Instant igloo and yummy snack!

 Lil Roo is three and needed a little help, so I coated the plate and bowl in frosting and Daddy helped add the mini-marshmallows.

After the igloo craft, I gave him an Eskimo coloring sheet (found here) to color:
